Character select window

The character select window has the following parts:

  1. Title: The current name of your font project.
  2. Character cell: You can select a character by single-clicking on it. A character cell has two parts:
    • Header: It shows the character, the character cell represents. The character cell can show the characters:
      • by character faces,
      • by Unicode indices.
You can change these stats in View | character cell headers menu.
Note: Sometimes you can see Unicode indices instead of character faces. This is because SimpleFont has a built-in character face database and it does not contain all the character faces of the Unicode system. We try to follow the changes in the Unicode system and enhance our character face database. If you encounter problems displaying character faces, you may check http://www.simplefont.com/download for character face database updates.
    • Body: You can see the most significant part of the edited character here. If you would like to see the whole character, you should use the Preview window.
  3. Name: Unicode name of the selected character.
  4. Template: The name of the template the font project is based on. If you import TTF or BDF files. You can see [TTF] or [BDF] instead of template names.
  5. Num. of chars: Number of characters in the font project.
  6. Index: Unicode index of the selected character. The First value is decimal, the second value in the square brackets is hexadecimal.
  7. View by: Indicates what the character cell header shows (character faces / Unicode names).
